Food by the water

Put and take is a permit, a map pin and often a pond with rules. Food at the water is three tracks: no stove (thermos and a sandwich), camping stove, embers and foil where fire is allowed. The fish recipes on this site take care of rainbow trout. We do not cover kolbullar – that recipe is already done, in depth, somewhere else.

If you want kolbullar with pork and raw-stirred lingonberries over an open fire: kolbullar on Swilderness. Flour, water, salt, pork fat, lingonberries. We link there instead of writing a thin copy.

No stove

Coffee in a thermos. Crispbread, cheese, cucumber. Smoked fish from the day before, assembled as an open sandwich at the water so the bread does not go soggy in the rucksack. That is enough for an evening session.

Camping stove

One pan. Rainbow trout on a camping stove is skin side first, lemon, eat from the pan. Omelette with rainbow trout if you have eggs. Check the ground – many clubs allow a stove, not a fire.

Embers and foil

Only where it is allowed. Rainbow trout in foil is the fish’s parcel. Potatoes in the embers is the side. Skewers if there is a grate. The grill at home: grilled rainbow trout.

The kolbullar stay on Swilderness. The foil fish stays here.

Pack

Salt, butter in a tin, lemon, foil, firesteel or stove, a bag for rubbish, wet wipes. Gut according to gutting if the fish is going home. You do not leave waste at the pond.

Rules

A permit water is not the right-of-way picnic grate. A fire ban applies even if you “only meant to make kolbullar”. Read the water page and the seller. First trip: the first trip.

FAQ

May I light a fire at the pond?

Often not. Many permit waters are fenced, have a fire ban or only a built grill. Read the seller. A camping stove on a firm surface is more often allowed than an open fire.

Thermos, crispbread, cheese, a cucumber, nuts. Tinned smoked fish or an open sandwich with smoked rainbow trout assembled on the spot.
