Season and when they take
If you want to understand when the fishing is at its best, water temperature is the only meter you really need. Rainbow trout thrives in cold, oxygen-rich water and is most active around 10 to 14 degrees. That explains the whole year: spring and autumn are peak season, summer is sluggish, and winter is its own branch with ice fishing.
