The club calls the lake a family lake. Perch, pike and roach are also mentioned here. Typical of stocked rainbow trout: they can take near a jetty after a planting.

Children fish on a guardian’s permit according to the association. An accessible jetty and a toilet by the road.

Lures and flies

Small spinners, spoons and a nymph for stocked rainbow trout. With bait and a float, children often reach the first fish fastest; on fly a nymph under an indicator often suffices. Change depth until you find the fish. General species tactics and therefore not specific to Ottersjön.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the association. The season is time-limited. Check an open permit with the seller before you go.

Stocked rainbow trout go best in cool water and just after a fill; dawn and dusk usually beat summer, while strong midday sun can push them down.

The map pin sits at Ottersjön in Lerum municipality, east of Abborresjön. Östad district. Not Tiveden’s Ottersjön.
