Lilla Lövsjön

Lilla Lövsjön is Gråbo Sportfiske och Fiskevårdsförening’s put-and-take lake north of Gråbo in Lerum municipality. The association stocks rainbow trout. Only fly fishing is allowed. Permits are sold digitally to anyone, without membership. Brown trout and grass carp in the same lake are protected.

Species

Rainbow trout is the main species. Brown trout and grass carp must, according to the association, be released. Perch is mentioned, but that is not why you buy the put-and-take permit.

With wading shallows and sandy beaches the rainbow trout can sit shallow. After a stocking they can sit tight; later they want a more careful presentation. Sand beaches, wind shelters, fire sites and accessibility make it a comfortable fishery for families as well — see more family-friendly waters.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Fly only. Spin fishing and bait fishing are not included. From 2026, day and year permits give the right to fish from the bank, wade and use a float tube. There are wind shelters and a couple of fire sites. The association also mentions accessibility measures.

Kullsjön and Vällsjön in the same municipality belong to other associations.

Lures and flies

Nymph, pupa and a smaller streamer are a common start. The tips are general for fly fishing rainbow trout in a lake. Leave the spinning rod at home. Wade where the bottom allows.

When they bite

Morning and evening are often best. In autumn the association is trying a permit with a different validity — read the dates with the seller. Stocked rainbow trout are liveliest in cool water and just after a refill, and they usually bite best at dawn and dusk. On shallow, clear water they get shyer a while after stocking, so a discreet presentation helps.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. Quota and the float-tube rule belong to the association and they change. Children up to fifteen fish free according to the seller when accompanied by an adult with a permit, on the adult’s terms.

The lake is marked as family-friendly with sandy beaches, wind shelters, fire sites, accessibility and a clear child rule. It is still a lake you wade in — keep watch.
