Oxsjön

Oxsjön is put and take in Härjedalen municipality, north of Vemdalen. Hån-Vemdalens FVOF stocks brown trout and Arctic char. Its own P&T permit. Not Oxsjön in Göteborg. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

Brown trout and Arctic char are the main species. The association also mentions whitefish and perch. This page is Oxsjön in Härjedalen, not the west coast.

Typical of mountain-near lakes: Arctic char can sit deeper in the middle of the day.

Arctic char likes cold, clear mountain-near water and often sits deep, especially midday. Unlike most P&T tarns in the area, boats are allowed in Oxsjön, so you can also search the deep lanes. Brown trout rewards a discreet presentation.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Here: fly fishing, spin fishing, bait fishing and ice jigging with one rod. Boats are allowed in Oxsjön according to the association. Boats are hired via an agent in Vemdalen according to them.

The association writes about walking in from Gradins väg. The road up is charged according to them.

Lures and flies

For Arctic char and brown trout, small spinners, spoons and dry or wet flies often work. General species tactics and therefore not specific to Oxsjön.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager. Mountain lakes can be nicer in low sun and on ice. Check an open permit with the seller.

This high up the season is shorter and the water cooler, so early summer, low sun and chilly days often beat high summer. From a boat you reach Arctic char at depth during the day, and in winter ice jigging takes over.

Getting there

The map pin follows the association’s GPS north of Vemdalen. Count on walking from the road according to the association. Not Oxsjön at Göteborg.
