Oltjärn

Oltjärn is put and take in Härjedalen municipality, at the course and cabin site outside Hede. Hede SFF stocks rainbow trout, brown trout and Arctic char. It is the association’s named P&T water — not the mountain lakes included in the ordinary area permit. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

Planted salmonids are what you fish here. This page is Oltjärn at Hede, not other tarns with a similar name and not Fillingen or Härolden.

Hede SFF writes that rainbow trout is only stocked in Oltjärn. Brown trout and Arctic char are also mentioned here. Typical of this kind of water: the fish can sit close to the bank after a stocking and then seek deeper water.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Here: fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing until the seller says otherwise. Craft are not allowed according to the association. A jetty and a barbecue site are mentioned at the tarn. Read current gear with the seller before you pack.

Always check the latest stocking and an open permit with the seller, not in an old report. Closure around autumn can occur.

Lures and flies

For planted rainbow trout, small spinners, spoons and simple nymphs in olive, black and orange often work. On fly a nymph or simple streamer is enough to start. The tips are general for the species and therefore not specific to Oltjärn.

Change colour and depth if it is dead for a while. After a stocking the fish can take near the surface.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun in small forest waters. Spring and autumn are often pleasant on this kind of water.

Check an open permit and ice with the seller before you go.

Getting there

The tarn sits at Oltjärns kurs- och stuganläggning, a few kilometres outside Hede. Park where it is signed. Fires only on prepared sites unless there is a fire ban.

Take your rubbish home. The map on this site is a pin, not a parking map. Not Fillingen and not Ljusnan.

The Buy permit button goes to the seller. The ordinary Hede permit is not enough here — it is its own day permit for Oltjärn.
