Bergtjärn

Bergtjärn is put and take in Härjedalen municipality, west of Vemhån. Hån-Vemdalens FVOF stocks brown trout and Arctic char. Its own P&T permit. Not Bergstjärn at Hedeviken and not Bergtjärn in Hällefors. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

Brown trout and Arctic char are the main species. This page is the tarn at Vemhån, not other Bergtjärn in the country.

Typical of a forest tarn: the fish can sit along the edges after stocking.

With brown trout and Arctic char you fish two salmonids that like cold, clear mountain-near water. Arctic char often sit deeper and cooler than brown trout, especially in warm weather. Because boats and float tubes are not allowed, all fishing is from the bank, and the last stretch is a walk through forest. Both reward a discreet presentation and a thinner tippet.

Here: fly fishing, spin fishing, bait fishing and ice jigging with one rod. Boats and float tubes are not allowed here according to the association.

The last stretch is a forest walk according to the association. In winter they mention snowmobile. Read current tackle with the seller.

Lures and flies

For stocked brown trout and Arctic char, small spinners, spoons and nymphs in olive and black often work. General species tactics and therefore not specific to Bergtjärn.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager. Morning and evening are often nicer. Check an open permit and temporary bans with the seller.

This high up the season is shorter and the water cooler, so early summer and chilly days often beat high summer. In winter ice jigging takes over when the ice bears, and the association mentions snowmobile access.

Getting there

The map pin follows the association’s GPS west of Vemhån. Parking and the walk there according to the signs. Not Hedeviken.
