Skysjön

Skysjön is Fyrväpplingen Sportfiske’s put-and-take lake in Uppsala municipality. Rainbow trout is stocked here every week in season. Fly fishing and spin fishing are allowed. Bait fishing is banned. The same facility has Rörsjön, where bait fishing is allowed.

Species

Rainbow trout is the main species. The facility describes weekly stocking. This page is Skysjön, not the hire lakes Södersjön and Edsjön.

Rainbow trout in a larger forest lake can spread. After a stocking they can sit tight. Walking distance from the facility is according to the seller longer here than to Rörsjön.

Rainbow trout in a larger lake like this can spread more than in a small tarn, so it pays to search bays and banks and fish a spot properly before you move. With weekly stocking there is almost always new fish to go at. Because bait fishing is not allowed you fish with fly or spin, from the bank or a hired boat.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Allowed here: fly, spin and baitcaster. Bait fishing, baited hooks and plastic eggs are banned. Boats are hired on site. Fires only at prepared fire sites.

The permit is bought on site with swish or cash, not via iFiske. Buy it before you fish.

Lures and flies

Small spoons and spinners in silver, white or orange are a common start. On fly: nymph and streamer. The tips are general for rainbow trout in lakes.

Fish a bay properly. Give way if someone is in a boat.

When they bite

Morning and evening are often best. The facility states open in daytime. Stocking is decided by Fyrväpplingen.

Planted rainbow trout are liveliest in cool water and just after a refill, and usually bite best at dawn and dusk; in strong midday sun they often seek depth. From a boat you reach the deeper lanes on a large lake.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. Quota and boat hire belong to the facility and they change.
