Hjällsjön

Hjällsjön is put and take in Tierp municipality, at Söderfors. Söderfors-Hedesunda FVF stocks rainbow trout in this lake. It is its own permit, not Dalälven’s ordinary river permit. This page is not Hjällsjön in Torsby. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

Rainbow trout is the main species. Other species in the river system are not the reason for the P&T permit.

Rainbow trout in a smaller lake often sit along edges and at a jetty after stocking. Later they can seek deeper. The tips are general for the species and therefore not specific to Hjällsjön.

Lures and flies

For stocked rainbow trout, small spinners, spoons and simple nymphs in olive, black and orange often work. On fly a nymph or a simple streamer is a start. Change colour and depth if it is dead for a while.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun. Spring and autumn are often pleasant periods on this kind of water.

Getting there

The map pin sits at the P&T jetty in Söderfors, Tierp municipality. Drive toward Söderfors, not toward Hjällsjön in Värmland. Park where it is marked.
