Berkingedammen

Berkingedammen is Berkinge Badet’s put-and-take pond in Östhammar municipality. The operator stocks rainbow trout in the restored mill pond. Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing are allowed. Buy the permit in reception or with Swish before you cast. Pike and perch in Stora sjön are a different permit.

Species

Rainbow trout is the main species. The operator calls it salmonid fishing. This page is Berkingedammen, not the pike-and-perch permit for Stora sjön.

Rainbow trout in a mill pond can take from the bank, a jetty and a hired boat. After a stocking they can sit tight.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Allowed: spin, fly and bait. Catch and release is not allowed according to the operator. Fires only at the marked site. Boats are hired on site.

Buy the permit in reception when it is open, otherwise Swish before fishing starts. Buy it before you cast.

Lures and flies

Small spoons and spinners in silver, white or orange are a common start. On fly: a nymph. The tips are general for rainbow trout in a pond.

Give space to swimmers. Do not fish in the swimming zone.

When they bite

The operator states fishing between six and 21. Morning and evening are often best for rainbow trout. Stocking is decided by Berkinge.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. The salmonid permit is not the same as the permit for Stora sjön. Quota and season belong to the operator and they change.

The pond is deep, and the swimming is a different activity from the fishing. Give space if someone is already on the jetty. Take your rubbish home. Park so rescue and other guests can get through. Follow signs at the water, not only the map pin.
