Skavtjärn

Skavtjärn is put and take in Åsele municipality. Noretbyarnas FVO stocks rainbow trout and brown trout in two tarns. A special permit is required for Skavtjärn and Norsjötjärn, separate from the rest of the FVO waters. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

Planted salmonid is the reason for this page. The FVO writes that planting happens in two waters. Södra Lappland describes accessible fishing for rainbow trout and brown trout in Skavtjärnen. This is not Norsjötjärn and not Ångermanälven.

Both rainbow trout and brown trout like the cold, clear water this far north. Rainbow trout is the boldest and most willing, while brown trout rewards a more careful presentation and a thinner leader. Because a special permit is required for Skavtjärn and Norsjötjärn, check that you have the right permit before you start.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Hand tackle. Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing as long as the permit does not say otherwise. Children under 16 fish only together with an adult who has bought a permit, on that person’s quota, according to the seller.

Lures and flies

Small spinners and a nymph are a common start toward planted salmonids. The tips are general.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the FVO. A Norrland tarn: early season and cooler days can be nicer than high summer. Check an open permit.

In a northern tarn the season is shorter and the water cooler, so early summer and chilly days often give more than midsummer heat. Morning and evening usually beat the rest, and fishing can be liveliest in the weeks after a stocking.

Getting there

The map pin sits at Skavtjärnen. South of Åsele in Noretbyarnas area. Not other Skavtjärn. Park where it is signed.

Noretbyarnas FVO lies just south of Åsele town. The river and Vispsjön belong to other permits. Do not mix up the day permits.

Södra Lappland mentions rest spots and fireplaces in the area. Fires only where it is signed. The coordinate is the map pin, not the whole fishery.

Åsele municipality has more tarns with similar names. Skavtjärnen on the map is 64.093 / 17.171.
