Baksjötjärn is put and take in Vilhelmina municipality, by E45 and Saiva Camping. The municipality and FVO stock rainbow trout and brown trout. The Volgsjön iFiske permit does not apply here — you need a separate permit. Permits are bought via QR at the tarn according to Visit Vilhelmina. We do not sell the permits.
Species
Stocked salmonids are the reason. Visit Vilhelmina writes that fish are planted during the year. This page is Baksjötjärnen by the town, not Baksjötjärnen further east in the municipality and not Baksjön in Volgsjöns FVO.
Perch and pike occur naturally according to the sources. They are not the main number on this page.
With rainbow trout and brown trout you fish two salmonids with different habits. This far north the water is cool and the season shorter, which often means lively fish in open water. Perch and pike are not what you buy the put-and-take permit for. Rainbow trout take lures, bait and fly and often stay along the edges after a stocking.
Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing
Sport fishing in the tarn. Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing as long as the permit does not say otherwise. Boats are banned according to an older fishery plan. Fishing in the running stretches downstream of the bridges is banned according to Visit Vilhelmina. Jetties are mentioned at Saiva.
Lures and flies
Small spinners and a nymph. The tips are general.
When they bite
Stocking is decided by the manager. Check that permit sales are open before you go — there is no iFiske day permit for this tarn.
This far north, morning and evening and the weeks after a stocking usually give most, while high-summer heat can slow the fish. The permit is bought via QR at the tarn, so make sure sales work before you travel.
Getting there
The map pin sits at Baksjötjärnen by Vilhelmina town. E45, Tjärnvallen, Saiva Camping. Not the other Baksjötjärnen in the municipality.
Saiva Camping and Tjärnvallen are the landmarks. Jetties according to Saiva. Volgsjön, Fatsjön and Baksjön are other waters with another permit.
An older fishery plan calls the tarn put and take and mentions several stockings a year. The plan is not a price list. Current purchase is QR on site.
Grönlunds Jakt och Fiske in Vilhelmina is named as a physical seller in older sources. Confirm an open shop if the QR does not work when you arrive.
Rules
Always check the current rules on site and with the seller. QR permit, quota and the ban downstream of the bridges belong to the manager. Current prices are on the permit seller’s page.
