Bodtjärn

Bodtjärn is put and take in Nordanstig municipality. Harmångers fiskeområde stocks rainbow trout and brown trout. The other P&T tarn, its own day permit. East of Långtjärn. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

Stocked salmonids are what you fish here. This page is Bodtjärn, not other waters in the same area that may have pike or perch as the main number.

With rainbow trout and brown trout you fish two salmonids with different habits: rainbow bolder and shallower, brown trout more cautious and often deeper in warm weather. Both are stocked at catchable size and take lures, bait and fly. Brown trout rewards a discreet presentation and a thinner tippet, while rainbow takes more aggressively. Because Bodtjärn has its own day and family permit, check that you bought the right one and not Långtjärn’s.

Stocked fish can sit close to the bank after release and then deeper. That is typical of this kind of water.

Lures and flies

For stocked rainbow trout, small spinners, spoons and simple nymphs in olive, black and orange often work when the water is stained. A streamer when fish are hunting. General species tactics, not a recipe we claim is unique to Bodtjärn.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager, not by a bite calendar we copy. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun in small forest waters. Check an open permit, ice and the latest stocking with the seller before you go.

Cool water and a recent stocking usually give the best takes; brown trout is more sensitive to heat, so early morning and evening beat summer heat while the fish otherwise seek depth.

Getting there

A few kilometres east of Långtjärn at Harmånger. Coastal Hälsingland, not the inland Långtjärn. Park where it is marked, not on private land. Fires only at prepared sites unless there is a fire ban.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. Quota, hours, float tube and the rules for children change. Current prices are on the permit seller’s page. Bring the confirmation from the purchase.
