Abborrtjärn

Abborrtjärn is put and take in Bollnäs municipality. Undersviks FVF stocks rainbow trout and brown trout. Not Malingsbo Abborrtjärn and not Färila. East side of Ljusnan together with Åltjärn. We do not sell the permits — buy them from the seller.

Brown trout and rainbow trout with ongoing stocking according to the association. Despite the name, this is salmonid put and take.

With rainbow trout and brown trout you fish two salmonids with different manners — despite the name the product is salmonids, not perch. Rainbow is bolder and shallower, brown trout more careful and often deeper in the heat. Both are stocked continuously and take lures, bait and fly. Brown trout rewards a discreet presentation and a finer leader.

Stocked fish often stay close to the bank after release and then move deeper. Typical of this kind of water.

Lures and flies

Toward stocked rainbow trout, small spinners, spoons and simple nymphs in olive, black and orange often work when the water is coloured. A streamer when the fish are hunting. That is general species tactics, not a recipe we claim is unique to Abborrtjärn.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager, not by a bite calendar we copy. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun on small forest waters. Check the open permit, ice and latest stocking with the seller before you go.

Cool water and a recent stocking usually give the best takes; brown trout is more sensitive to heat, so early morning and evening beat summer heat while the fish otherwise seek depth.

Getting there

Along road 83 north of Bollnäs, east side of Ljusnan. Not Bergtjärn on the west side. Park where it is marked, not on private land. Only light a fire on prepared sites, and not during a fire ban.
