Abborrtjärnen

Abborrtjärnen is put and take in Härjedalen municipality. Överhogdals FVOF stocks Arctic char and brown trout. You buy a permit for this water — an area permit for the surrounding lakes is not enough. Not Abborrtjärn in other municipalities. Rötjärnen in the same FVO has its own rainbow permit.

Species

The main species is stocked Arctic char. Char is stocked yearly, and brown trout as well. It is the stocked salmonids you fish here, not pike in a wild water.

Arctic char in a confined lake often stay close to the bank after stocking and then spread into deeper water.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

The methods we filter on are fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing. Read the current tackle rules with the permit seller before you pack. An outboard is often banned on this type of water — follow the seller, not a forum.

Lures and flies

Small spoons and spinners in silver, white or orange are a common start where spinning is allowed. On fly: nymph, pupa and a simple streamer. Scented baits may be banned — that is on the seller’s page. The tips are general for fishing stocked salmonids.

When they bite

Stocked salmonids are liveliest in cool water and just after a stocking. Dawn and dusk often beat high sun. When the association last stocked is on the permit seller’s page.

Getting there

A tarn at Överhogdal. Boat ban according to the association. Not Hoån as stream fishing. The map pin points at the named water, not at the village. Park where it is marked.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. Quota, season and the rules for children change. Bring the confirmation digitally or printed.
