Timmerdammen

Timmerdammen is put and take in Värnamo municipality, at Böttemåla Gård outside Rydaholm. The farm calls the water put and take after rainbow trout. We do not sell the permits — read and get in touch via the farm’s page.

Species

Rainbow trout is the main species. This page is Timmerdammen at Böttemåla, not Kassasjön and not Kalvsjön.

The pond is small according to the farm. A barbecue site is mentioned. Typical of planted rainbow trout in a forest pond: they can take close to the bank.

In a small pond the rainbow trout is seldom far away — you reach the whole water from the bank, and the fish often circle the edges. That makes a pond like this easy to fish through and kind to beginners.

Lures and flies

Small spinners and a nymph toward planted rainbow trout. In still pond water a slow retrieve and a nymph under a float often work; let it sink before you start pulling. General species tactics and therefore not specific to Timmerdammen.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the farm. Call or email before you go so you know it is open.

Because you settle directly with the farm, it is worth checking stocking and opening hours before you travel — a small pond can be fished hard just after a fill. Cool water, morning and evening generally give the best takes on rainbow trout. The patterns are general.
