Kassasjön

Kassasjön, also called sjön Kassen, is Kassens sportfiskeklubb’s put-and-take lake in Värnamo municipality. The club stocks rainbow trout. Fly fishing and spin fishing are allowed. Bait fishing is banned. At the car park there is an accessible jetty according to the municipality.

Species

Rainbow trout is the main species. The municipality counts Kassasjön as put and take. This page is Kassasjön, not Kalvsjön to the east.

Rainbow trout can take from the many jetties and along the path around the lake. After a stocking it can sit tight. Walk the last stretch quietly.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

In summer: fly fishing or a spinning rod with a lure. Baited hook is banned. Bait fishing is banned. One active hand-held rod. Winter fishing has its own rules with the club, including ice fishing.

The permit is sold only via iFiske, not by Swish to the club. Buy it before you drive out — coverage at the lake is poor according to the club.

Lures and flies

Small spoons and spinners in silver, white or orange are a common start. On fly: nymph and streamer. The tips are general for rainbow trout in lakes.

Fish a jetty or bank properly.

When they bite

Morning and evening are often best. The lake has a summer season and a winter season. The periods in between are closed. Read iFiske the same day: when it says permits are not sold, the lake is closed.

The map pin sits at Sjön Kassen, Värnamo municipality. There is parking at the lake. The cottage jetties have a fishing ban.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. Quota, opening hours and winter rules belong to the club and they change.

The lake is marked as family-friendly with an accessible jetty at the car park. That does not replace supervision at deep water.

Give space if someone is already at the water. Take your rubbish home. If the lake is closed for stocking it shows with the seller. Park so rescue and other guests can get through. Follow signs at the water, not only the map pin.
