Stora Björketjärnen

Stora Björketjärnen is put and take in Delsjöområdet, Göteborg municipality. Sportfiskarna stocks rainbow trout annually according to the Gula Kortet guide, together with Östra Långevattnet. Traditional fly tackle only. Gula Kortet applies, not Blå Kortet. We do not sell the permits.

Species

Stocked salmonids are what you fish here: rainbow trout and brown trout, plus perch. This page is Stora Björketjärnen, also written Stora Björketjärn, not Lilla Björketjärn next door and not Västra Långevattnet.

About two hectares according to the guide. Ice fishing from ice is allowed in winter. Typical of stocked rainbow trout in a small fly tarn: they can take close to the bank after stocking.

With rainbow trout and brown trout you fish two salmonids with different manners. Because only traditional fly tackle is allowed on open ground you fish with rod, line, leader and one fly at a time — spin and bait fishing belong to Västra Långevattnet. In winter ice fishing from ice is allowed. Brown trout rewards a discreet presentation and a thinner leader.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Here: fly fishing only with traditional fly tackle. Spin fishing and bait fishing belong to Västra Långevattnet, not here. The same tackle rule as Östra Långevattnet.

Young people under 16 fish free in Gula Kortet waters according to the seller, with the same tackle rules.

Lures and flies

For stocked rainbow trout a nymph or a simple streamer in olive, black or orange is often enough. The tips are general for the species and therefore not specific to Stora Björketjärnen.

Walk the last stretch quietly. Fish one spot before you change.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by Sportfiskarna, often spring or autumn. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun. Check that it is open the same day you go.

Stocked rainbow trout are liveliest in cool water and just after a refill, often spring or autumn, and bite best at dawn and dusk. In winter ice fishing takes over when the ice bears.

The map pin sits on Stora Björketjärnen in Delsjöområdet, Göteborg, southeast of Östra Långevattnet and near Lilla Delsjön. Not Lilla Björketjärn.

Park where it is marked around the Delsjöarna. The map is a pin, not a parking map.
