Stor-Abborrvattnet

Stor-Abborrvattnet is put and take in Sollefteå municipality. Långvattnets FVO (Junsele) stocks rainbow trout. The map writes Stor-Abborr-vattnet. Perch has come in; the product is still P&T rainbow trout. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Rainbow trout is the main species, planted at catchable size and willing on lures, bait and fly. That perch has come in does not change that the product is put and take for rainbow trout. With camping at the water it suits a longer fishing weekend.

Planted fish can sit close to the bank after stocking and then deeper. That is typical of this type of water.

Lures and flies

For planted rainbow trout, small spinners, spoons and simple nymphs in olive, black and orange often work when the water is stained. Streamer when the fish hunt. That is general species tactics, not a recipe we claim is unique to Stor-Abborrvattnet.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager, not by a bite calendar we copy. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun in small forest waters. Check an open permit, ice and the latest stocking with the seller before you go.

This far north the water is cool and the season shorter, so morning and evening and the weeks after a stocking usually give most. In strong sun the fish seek depth.

Getting there

West of Botjärn in the same cluster. Not Fagersta Abborrtjärn. Park where it is signed, not on private land. Fires only where it is prepared unless there is a fire ban.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. Quota, times, float tube and what applies for children change. Current prices are on the permit seller’s page. Bring the confirmation from the purchase, stick to the quota and kill quickly the rainbow trout you keep; camping and fishing permit are separate things.
