Botjärn

Botjärn is put and take in Sollefteå municipality. Långvattnets FVO (Junsele) stocks rainbow trout. North of Blåtjärn. Perch has come into this tarn according to the FVO, but the permit is sold as salmonid P&T. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

Stocked salmonids are what you fish here. This page is Botjärn, not other waters in the same area that may have pike or perch as the main number.

Rainbow trout is the main species, stocked at catchable size. That perch has come in does not change that the permit is sold as salmonid put and take. Rainbow trout take lures, bait and fly, and often stay along the edges after a stocking. With camping in the area it suits a longer fishing weekend.

Stocked fish can sit close to the bank after release and then deeper. That is typical of this kind of water.

Lures and flies

For stocked rainbow trout, small spinners, spoons and simple nymphs in olive, black and orange often work when the water is stained. A streamer when fish are hunting. General species tactics, not a recipe we claim is unique to Botjärn.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager, not by a bite calendar we copy. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun in small forest waters. Check an open permit, ice and the latest stocking with the seller before you go.

This far north the water is cool and the season shorter, so morning and evening and the weeks after a stocking usually give most. In strong sun the fish seek depth.

Getting there

A few hundred metres north of Blåtjärn. Not Bodtjärn in Harmånger. Park where it is marked, not on private land. Fires only at prepared sites unless there is a fire ban.
