Blåtjärn

Species

Rainbow trout is the main species, with yearly stocking according to the association. It is stocked at catchable size and takes lures, bait and fly, and often stays along the edges after a stocking. With a latrine, drinking water and camping at this tarn it suits a longer fishing weekend. The same permit covers the three other tarns in the four.

Stocked fish can sit close to the bank after release and then deeper. That is typical of this kind of water.

Lures and flies

For stocked rainbow trout, small spinners, spoons and simple nymphs in olive, black and orange often work when the water is stained. A streamer when fish are hunting. General species tactics, not a recipe we claim is unique to Blåtjärn.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager, not by a bite calendar we copy. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun in small forest waters. Check an open permit, ice and the latest stocking with the seller before you go.

This far north, morning and evening and the weeks after a stocking usually give most, while high-summer heat can make the fish slow and deep-seeking.

Getting there

Junsele inland, Långvattnets FVO. Not Lill-Abborr-vattnet which sits next door but is not the same name. Park where it is marked, not on private land. Fires only at prepared sites unless there is a fire ban.

Rules
