Species

Rainbow trout is the main species, stocked at a catchable size by the municipality. In a small tarn you reach the fish from the bank, and they often circulate along the edges after a stocking. Stocked fish can sit close to the bank after planting and then deeper. Typical of this kind of water.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun in small forest waters. Check an open permit, ice and the latest stocking with the seller before you go.

Stocked rainbow trout are liveliest in cool water and just after a refill, and usually bite best at dawn and dusk. In strong summer sun they can go slow and look for depth in the middle of the day.

Getting there

Just southwest of Stora Abborrtjärn. The map pin sits at the southern edge. Park where it is signed, not on private land. Fires only where it is prepared unless there is a fire ban.
