Gåstjärn

Gåstjärn is put and take in Ljusnarsberg municipality, at Ställdalen. The municipality and Ljusnarsbergs FVO stock rainbow trout regularly. Its own day permit, not the permit for other waters. Not Andtjärn to the west and not Gåstjärn in Sallsjöån.

Species

Rainbow trout is the main species. The association calls Gåstjärn and Andtjärn put-and-take waters. This page is Gåstjärnen at Gruvsvartviken, not other Gåstjärn.

Rainbow trout in a forest tarn can take along the edges. After a stocking they can sit tight. Walk the last stretch quietly.

In a forest tarn you reach the fish from the bank, and they often circulate along the edges after a stocking. Fishing is with hand tackle — one rod — while other tackle is banned. Rainbow trout take lures, bait and fly.

The permit is sold via the association’s page, Swish marked Gåstjärn or agents. Buy it before you fish. Andtjärn has its own number — do not mix them up.

Lures and flies

Small spoons and spinners in silver, white or orange are a common start. On fly: nymph, pupa and streamer. The tips are general for rainbow trout in a lake.

When they bite

Morning and evening are often best. Stocking is decided by the association. Check season and ice with the permit seller.

Stocked rainbow trout are liveliest in cool water and just after a stocking, and usually bite best at dawn and dusk. In strong summer sun they can go slow and seek depth in the middle of the day.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. Quota and rates belong to the association and they change.

Give space if someone is already at the water. Take your rubbish home. Park so rescue and other guests can get through. Follow signs at the water, not only the map pin.
