Ångsågens damm

Ångsågens damm is put and take in Skellefteå municipality. Drängsmarks FVO stocks rainbow trout. You buy a permit for this water — an area permit for the surrounding lakes is not enough. Ostträsket and the other FVO lakes are not included in this pond permit.

Species

The main species is stocked rainbow trout. Rainbow is planted in the pond at Ångsågen. It is the stocked salmonids you fish here, not pike in a wild water.

Rainbow trout in a confined pond often stay close to the bank after stocking and then spread into deeper water.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

The methods we filter on are fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing. Read the current tackle rules with the permit seller before you pack. An outboard is often banned on this type of water — follow the seller, not a forum.

Lures and flies

Small spoons and spinners in silver, white or orange are a common start where spinning is allowed. On fly: nymph, pupa and a simple streamer. Scented baits may be banned — that is on the seller’s page. The tips are general for fishing stocked salmonids.

When they bite

Stocked salmonids are liveliest in cool water and just after a stocking. Dawn and dusk often beat high sun. Premiere is often around midsummer; the pond can close for stocking.

Getting there

The ponds sit at the old steam sawmill in Drängsmark, at Kvarnbäcken. The pin is the heritage area, not Skellefteå centre. The map pin points at the named water, not at the town. Park where it is marked.
