Vittjärn

Vittjärn is put and take in Ludvika municipality. Säfsnäs fiskevårdsförening stocks rainbow trout and brown trout. Accessible according to the association. The tarn can be hired certain days — check the news before you go. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

Stocked salmonids are what you fish here. This page is Vittjärn, not other waters in the same area that may have pike or perch as the main number.

Brown trout and rainbow trout. When it is not hired the ordinary salmonid permit applies.

With rainbow trout and brown trout you fish two salmonids with different temper: rainbow trout bolder and shallower, brown trout more careful and often deeper in heat. The tarn is accessible, which makes it comfortable also for families; see more family-friendly waters. When it is not hired the ordinary salmonid permit applies, and the association writes out when it is booked.

Planted fish can sit close to the bank after stocking and then deeper. That is typical of this kind of water.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Here: fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing. The same permit as Bredsjön. Not a hire lake in the sense that the public is shut out without notice — the association writes out when it is hired. Pack according to the seller’s current tackle rules, not a forum.

Lures and flies

For planted rainbow trout, small spinners, spoons and simple nymphs in olive, black and orange often work when the water is stained. A streamer when the fish are hunting. That is general species tactics, not a recipe we claim is unique to Vittjärn.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun in small forest waters. Check an open permit, ice and the latest stocking with the seller before you go.

Cool water and a recent fill usually give the best takes; brown trout is more sensitive to heat, so early morning and evening beat summer heat while the fish otherwise seek depth.

Getting there

East of Fredriksberg. The association has had work days at boardwalks and platforms here. Park where it is signed, not on private land. Fires only at prepared sites unless there is a fire ban.
