Ljustjärn is one of Grangärde Fiske’s put-and-take tarns north of Nyhammar, Ludvika municipality. Rainbow trout is stocked here. Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing are allowed as long as the tarn is not hired out. A special P&T permit is required, not the ordinary Grangärde permit. This is not Sveaskog’s Ljustjärn in Malingsbo-Kloten.
Species
Rainbow trout is the main species. The association calls the water put and take. This page is Grangärde’s Ljustjärn, not Hedtjärn and not Gåltjärn.
Rainbow trout in a three-hectare tarn can take along the edges and at a jetty. After a stocking they can sit tight.
Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing
Allowed here: fly, spin and bait when day permits are sold. The tarn can also be hired over a weekend — then only those who hired fish. One rod unless the seller says otherwise.
The permit is sold digitally. Buy it before you stand at the water. Check that the tarn is not hired out the same day.
Lures and flies
Small spoons and spinners in silver, white or orange are a common start. On fly: nymph and streamer. The tips are general for rainbow trout in a tarn. Fish one spot properly before you move.
When they bite
Morning and evening are often best. Stocking and hire are decided by Grangärde Fiske. Check with the permit seller the same day.
Getting there
The map pin is Ljustjärn on Grangärde Fiske’s map, Ludvika municipality, north of Nyhammar. An adapted fishing place is at the tarn according to the map.
On iFiske: choose the special permit for Ljustjärn, not Hedtjärn–Sottjärn and not Malingsbo.
Rules
Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. Quota, hire and season belong to the association and they change.
The lake is marked as family-friendly with an adapted fishing place. It is still a tarn. Give space if someone is already on the jetty or boardwalk. Take your rubbish home. If the tarn is hired out, it shows on the seller’s page. Park so rescue and other guests can get through. Follow signs at the water, not only the map pin.
