Vällingasjön is SFK Spöfolkets put-and-take lake north of Lagan in Ljungby municipality. The club stocks rainbow trout and sells permits digitally, with physical sale at a sports shop in Lagan as a complement. You fish with spin, baitcaster or fly, one rod at a time. Baited hooks are banned. Parking and a toilet are at the lake.
Species
Rainbow trout is the main species. In the lake there are also ordinary warm-water species; they are not the reason for the permit. The club describes the water as a spring-fed lake and stocks according to how many permits are sold, so pressure can feel different from week to week.
Rainbow trout here is fished both along the edge and over deeper parts. When it is cold or just after ice-out the fish can sit high. In midsummer they can need a deeper retrieve.
Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing
The club allows spin fishing (including baitcaster) and fly fishing, one rod at a time. Baited hooks are banned, so bait fishing with worm, dough or similar does not belong here. Fishing from a boat or canoe is banned. Fly fishing from a belly boat without oars is mentioned as allowed during a limited part of the year — read the season with the seller.
On ice there are separate rules, including ice jigging. That is winter fishing, not the bait fishing we filter on in summer.
Parking should be at signed places. A toilet is at the first parking. Fires only in prepared fireplaces.
Lures and flies
Small and medium spinners, spoons and simple wobblers in light or contrasting colours are a common start. On fly: a nymph along the edge, a streamer if you see rises. Change depth before you change fly. The tips are general for rainbow trout in a lake, not a report from a single day at Vällingasjön.
Because baited hooks are not allowed, leave powerbait and worm at home even if you are used to that on other PAT waters.
When they bite
Morning and evening are often best. The club mentions that rises occur and that dry fly can work when the fish take in the surface. The season is not the full calendar year according to the seller’s information — check open dates before the trip. Ice fishing has its own premiere when the ice carries.
Getting there
The lake sits north of Lagan, easy to reach from E4 and Ljungby. Drive to the signed parking, not out into the terrain. Motorhome pitches exist according to the club in a limited number and are paid separately. Other camping on the site is banned. Toilet emptying is referred to Laganland.
Rules
Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. Hours, bag quota and what happens when the quota is reached stand with the seller and the club, not as fixed figures here. Children up to twelve may according to the club and the seller fish in company with an adult who has a valid permit, on the adult’s terms.
The lake is marked as family-friendly with parking, toilet and a clear child rule. It is still deep water — keep an eye out.
