Ulvstorpasjön

Ulvstorpasjön is put and take in Jönköping municipality, west of the city along the road toward Axamo. Jönköpings Sportfiskeklubb stocks rainbow trout and brown trout. It is not Vättern and not an FVO with pike as the main number — you buy a permit for this lake.

Species

The main species is planted rainbow trout. Brown trout is also stocked. Perch and roach can be present, but that is not why the permit is sold. Signal crayfish is mentioned with a fishing ban — follow the seller, not a forum.

The lake is shallow and humus-stained. The fish can sit close to the edge as readily as out, especially when there is pressure from the bank.

With rainbow trout and brown trout you fish two salmonids with different temper; perch and roach can be present but are not the reason for the permit. In the shallow, humus-stained water light and contrasting baits often show better, and the fish sit close to the edge as readily as out. Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

The southern part has jetties, one of them accessible. At Ulvstorpsgård there is a public fishing ban according to the source — do not fish there.

Lures and flies

For pond and lake rainbow trout, small spinners, spoons and simple nymphs in olive, black and orange often work. That is general tactics for the species and therefore not specific to Ulvstorpasjön. In stained water a clearer silhouette can be more right than an exact imitation.

When they bite

The club states stocking several times a year, not a bite calendar. As in most shallow waters, morning and evening are often nicer than high sun. Check an open permit and ice with the seller before you go.

Stocked salmonids are liveliest in cool water and just after a fill, and usually take best at dawn and dusk. In a shallow, humus-stained water the surface warms quickly in sun, so early and late sessions often beat midday.

Getting there

The lake sits at Ulvstorpsgård, about five kilometres west of Jönköping centre, along the road toward Axamo. Park where it is signed, not on private land. Fires only at prepared sites unless there is a fire ban.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. Quotas, hours and what applies for members versus day visitors change. Membership in the club does not give free fishing here. Bring the confirmation from the purchase.
