Tattartjärn

Tattartjärn is put and take in Skinnskatteberg municipality. Riddarhyttans FVF stocks rainbow trout. Northwest in the P&T trio. Not Hyttdammen, which does not have the same public permit. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Planted fish can sit close to the bank after stocking and then deeper. That is typical of this kind of water.

Rainbow trout is the main species; it is stocked at catchable size and takes lures, bait and fly. In a small forest tarn like Tattartjärn you in practice reach the whole water from the bank, and the fish often circle the edges after a stocking. Because both summer permits and ice-jigging permits are sold, you can also fish it through the ice in winter.

Lures and flies

For planted rainbow trout, small spinners, spoons and simple nymphs in olive, black and orange often work when the water is stained. A streamer when the fish are hunting. That is general species tactics, not a recipe we claim is unique to Tattartjärn.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun in small forest waters. Check an open permit, ice and the latest stocking with the seller before you go.

Cool water and a recent fill usually give the best takes; in strong sun the fish seek depth, and in winter ice decides when you jig.

Getting there

Riddarhyttan, Skinnskatteberg municipality. Parking and a wind shelter at the tarn. Park where it is signed, not on private land. Fires only at prepared sites unless there is a fire ban.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. Quota, hours, float tube and what applies for children change. Current prices are on the permit seller’s page. Bring the confirmation from the purchase, stick to the quota and kill quickly the fish you keep.
