Svarttjärn

Svarttjärn is put and take in Sandviken municipality, Gästrikland. The second tarn in the Järbo pair. Fly fishing according to the club. Rainbow trout is the main species. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

Stocked salmonids are what you fish here: rainbow trout. This page is Svarttjärn in Sandviken, not Enånger Svarttjärn and not Svarttjärn Strömsund.

The same P&T permit as Djuptjärn. Fly only here. Typical of this kind of water: the fish can sit close to the bank after stocking and then seek deeper water.

The same name can exist in other municipalities. The coordinate on the map is this point, not another water with the same name. County: Gävleborgs län.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Lures and flies

On fly a nymph or a simple streamer in olive, black or orange is enough as a start. The tips are general for the species and therefore not specific to Svarttjärn. Leave the spinning rod in the car.

Change colour and depth if it is dead for a while. After a stocking the fish can take near the surface. Later they often want a slower presentation.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun in small forest waters. Spring and autumn are often named as pleasant periods on this type of water.

Check an open permit and ice with the seller before you go. An empty report online says nothing about today’s water.

Getting there

The map pin sits at Svarttjärnen Sandviken, about 470 metres from Djuptjärnen. Park where it is marked. Fires only at prepared sites unless there is a fire ban.
