Svartån

Svartån through Örebro is put and take in Örebro municipality. The municipality releases rainbow trout every year. Fishing is free from the dam board at Karlslund to the outlet in Hemfjärden — you do not buy a permit, but the rules on the municipality’s page apply. Not Södra Ånnabosjön and not Svartån in Mjölby.

Species

Rainbow trout is the main species. The municipality writes that it is released every year. In the river there are also pike, perch and other coarse fish. They are not the reason for the P&T page.

This page is the city stretch, not the whole Svartån from Ölen.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Allowed here: fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing with one hand rod. Wading is not allowed. Drag rowing and trolling are not allowed.

Fishing from bridges and dam boards is banned. Not from Karlslundsfallen between the dam and the power-channel outlet. Some streets and stretches are closed — read the municipality the same day, especially the spring asp ban.

Lures and flies

Small spoons and spinners in silver, white or orange are a common start. On fly: nymph and streamer. The tips are general for rainbow trout in a town setting.

Fish a bank strip properly. Do not stand on the bridge.

Morning and evening are often best. Stocking is decided by the municipality. Read the page for seasonal closures.

The map pin sits at Wadköping along the river in Örebro, not on the dam board at Karlslund and not on the castle. Free fishing applies along allowed bank, not from the bridges. Not Södra Ånnabosjön at Ånnaboda.

Give space to bathing, boats and those already standing at the edge. Take your rubbish home. Park so rescue and other guests can get through. Follow signs at the water, not only the map pin.
