Pickesjön is Frilufts- och Fiskeklubben Älgen’s put-and-take lake in Borås municipality. The club stocks rainbow trout year-round. Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing are allowed. Float tube is allowed, boats are not.
Species
Rainbow trout is the main species. This page is Pickesjön, not Stora Transåssjön in the same town.
Rainbow trout in a clear-water lake at the forest edge can take along edges and at jetties. After a stocking they can sit tight. Walk the last stretch quietly. Carp that take should be released. In a clear lake the fish get shyer a while after stocking, so vary depth and presentation.
Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing
Allowed here: fly fishing, spin fishing, bait fishing. One rod unless the seller says otherwise. Float tube is allowed. Boats are not. Carp that take should according to the club be released.
The permit is sold digitally. Buy it before you stand at the water.
Lures and flies
Small spoons and spinners in silver, white or orange are a common start where spin is allowed. On fly: nymph, pupa and streamer. The tips are general for rainbow trout in a lake.
Fish a spot properly before you change.
When they bite
Morning and evening are often best. Stocking is decided by whoever manages the water. Check season and ice with the permit seller.
Stocked rainbow trout are liveliest in cool water and just after a fill, and usually take best at dawn and dusk. In clear water and strong sun they can go slow and seek depth, where a float tube helps you reach them.
Getting there
The map pin is the named lake Pickesjön, Tullen, Borås. The lake sits southwest of the centre.

Rules
Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. Quota and season belong to the seller and they change.
Give space if someone is already on the jetty or boardwalk. Take your rubbish home. Follow signs at the water, not only the map pin. Park so rescue and other guests can get through.
