Medskogssjön

Medskogssjön is put and take in Ockelbo municipality, along road 272 between Sandviken and Ockelbo. Medskogssjöns sportfiskeklubb stocks rainbow trout in summer and Arctic char for winter fishing. The club was formed in 2024 for salmonid fishing. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

Planted rainbow trout and Arctic char are why this is put and take. Roach, perch and pike occur naturally. This page is Stora Medskogssjön at Medskog, not Lilla Medskogssjön next door and not Stensjön, which is only hired out to groups.

Camping, a bathing beach and a restaurant at the lake according to the club. Fishing from the bathing place and the island is banned according to their rules.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Here: fly fishing, spin fishing, bait fishing and ice jigging. Float tube only with a fly rod, its own permit. Boat, canoe and spin from a float tube are banned. Children up to 12 on a guardian’s permit if the child fishes themselves, according to the club.

Parking at the camping and a few bays along 272. The northern gravel road toward Ockelbo gives the eastern bank.

Lures and flies

Small spinners and a nymph against stocked rainbow trout. Arctic char in winter is another story — think slower and deeper. The tips are general, not specific to Medskogssjön.

When they bite

The club writes continuous stocking May–October. Arctic char for winter. Not a daily timetable. Check an open permit.

The map pin sits at Stora Medskogssjön, Medskog, Ockelbo. A bus stop with the same name at 272. Not Lilla Medskogssjön to the west. Not Sandviken’s P&T lakes. Stensjön is hire fishing, not this page.

Take your rubbish home. Groundbaiting is banned according to the club.
