Igeltjärn

Igeltjärn is Gnarps fiskeområde’s put-and-take tarn in Nordanstig municipality. The association stocks brown trout and rainbow trout. The same put-and-take permit covers Herrgårdstjärn, Åstjärn and Uppgårdstjärn. Gnarpsån and other waters have their own permits. The permit is bought digitally.

Species

The main species is planted brown trout; two-year-old brown trout is mentioned especially. Rainbow trout is stocked in the other put-and-take tarns in the area and can occur. Sea trout in Gnarpsån does not belong to this permit.

Brown trout in a small forest tarn often sit along edges and jetties. After stocking they can sit tight for a short time.

Brown trout is a cautious fish that rewards thinner tippet and a discreet presentation. With jetties or boardwalks and a wind shelter it is comfortable fishing also for families; see more family-friendly waters.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

At Igeltjärn there are jetties or boardwalks and a wind shelter according to the association. Fly fishing and spin fishing are the methods we filter on. Bait fishing is mentioned in the area but is not documented for this tarn specifically.

Lures and flies

Small spoons and spinners in silver or olive are a common start toward brown trout. On fly: a nymph along the bank. The tips are general.

Fish a jetty properly before you walk around.

When they bite

Morning and evening are often best. Stocking is decided by the association. A planned August stocking in the area was cancelled in 2026. Check with the permit seller before you go.

Brown trout bite best in cool water — early and late season, and morning and evening in summer. This far north the season is shorter, and fishing can be liveliest in the weeks after a stocking.

Getting there

The map pin is the named tarn Igeltjärn in Gnarp district. Drive toward Gnarp, not toward other Igeltjärn.

On iFiske: choose Dygnskort Put/Take-vatten. Other waters and Gnarpsån nedre do not apply in this tarn.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. Quota and the child rule belong to the association and they change. Children up to fourteen fish according to the seller free, through the year they turn fifteen.

The lake is marked as family-friendly with jetties or boardwalks, a wind shelter and a clear child rule. It is still a forest tarn.
