Bartjärn

Bartjärn is Forsa FVOF’s put-and-take lake at Forsa in Hudiksvall municipality. The association stocks rainbow trout in summer and ahead of the winter premiere. Only a day permit marked for Bartjärn applies here. Svartsjön is another put-and-take water with its own permit. Ordinary FVO permits for Storsjön and Långsjön do not apply in this lake.

Species

Rainbow trout is the main species, stocked in summer and ahead of the winter premiere. Arctic char and brown trout belong to Svartsjön’s stockings, not to Bartjärn’s map. Perch and pike in the other Forsa lakes are a different fishery.

Rainbow trout in a small forest lake often stay along the edges. After a stocking they can sit tight. Later they spread toward deeper holes.

The lake has a bog edge that suits fly fishing and a rock side that suits spinning. With a child permit and a short walk from the road it works for families; see more family-friendly waters.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

The association describes a bog edge suited to fly fishing and a rock side suited to spin fishing. Bait fishing is not documented. The lake sits about three hundred metres from the road. A wind shelter and three fire sites are mentioned.

There is a child permit for put and take. Free child fishing in the other waters does not apply here.

Lures and flies

Small spoons and spinners in silver, white or orange are a common start from the rock side. On fly: nymph and a simple streamer from the bog edge. The tips are general for rainbow trout in a lake.

When they bite

Morning and evening are often best. Stocking happens in summer and ahead of winter. Dates are decided by the association, not by a calendar here.

Stocked rainbow trout are liveliest in cool water and just after a stocking, and usually bite best at dawn and dusk. With summer and winter stockings the fishing can be good over a long season.

The map pin is Bartjärnen in Forsa socken, Hudiksvall municipality. Drive toward Forsa, not toward other Bartjärn in Dalarna.

With the seller: choose Dygnskort Bartjärn. The Svartsjön permit and other lake permits do not apply here.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. Quota and child permits belong to the association and they change.

The lake is marked as family-friendly with wind shelter, fire sites, a short walk from the road and its own child permit. The last stretch is still a path through forest.
