Helgeån Gustavsfors

Helgeån at Gustavsfors is put and take in Älmhult municipality. Gustavsfors fiskevårdsområde stocks rainbow trout on the named stretch B–F. Not the whole Helgeån and not Delary Dammsjö, which is another permit with zander. Digital permit via the seller. We do not sell the permits.

Species

Stocked salmonids are what you fish here. This page is the stream stretch at Gustavsfors, not Dammsjön and not Möckeln.

Other fish live in the river as well. Brown trout and grayling are protected according to the association and should not be why you buy the salmonid permit. Wels catfish is protected. Typical of stocked rainbow trout in a stream: they can sit in edges, behind stones and in current lanes.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing occur on signed stretches. Which tackle applies where you read with the seller and on the association’s rules page before you pack. Fishing from boat, float tube or canoe is banned on stretch B–F according to the association.

Check the season before you go. The association states open fishing in Helgeån during a limited part of the year, not year round.

Lures and flies

In current, stocked rainbow trout often take small spinners, nymphs and simple streamers. General stream tactics and therefore not specific to Helgeån at Gustavsfors.

Change depth and tempo if it is dead for a while. Keep in touch with the fly in the current rather than chasing an exact imitation.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager. Spring flood and low summer water change the fishing. Dawn and dusk are often nicer than high sun. Check an open permit with the seller before you go.

Getting there

Gustavsfors sits west of Älmhult in Kronobergs län. The map pin sits at the association’s published point for the permit machine, not in the middle of every stretch B–F. Park where it is marked. Fishing bans apply on marked areas at Gustavsfors and Brokabygden.

Permits for Helgeån are bought digitally. On the same seller page there is also a Dammsjö permit — choose Gustavsfors, not Delary Dammsjö. The association also mentions physical sales; use the path that is with the seller the day you fish.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. Season, quota, tackle and protection change. Current prices are on the permit seller’s page. A Gustavsfors permit is not a Dammsjön permit.
