Björkadammen

Björkadammen is Sportfiskarna Skåne’s put-and-take pond west of Sjöbo, on road 11 near Vombsjön. The club stocks rainbow trout. Permits are bought on site with cash, Swish or bank giro according to the club. Fishing may not start before the permit is bought.

Species

This is about stocked rainbow trout. The club describes the pond as groundwater-fed, with aeration when needed. It is not a wild water you come to for perch.

Rainbow trout in an open pond are used to pressure from the bank. When it is cold they can go high. After warm days they can sit deeper, outside the bank you first stopped at.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

The club allows spin fishing and fly fishing. Bait fishing is not included. Parking sits next to the pond. There are paths around it. A barbecue hut with tables and a fridge for the catch is mentioned, and a cleaning sink with running water.

A floating line and a nymph under the surface is a common start. Spinning from the pond bank often enough with small spoons. Change sides when you have fished one bank.

Lures and flies

Small spinners and spoons in silver, white or orange are a common start for pond rainbow trout. On fly: nymph, pupa and a simple streamer. The tips are general for the species.

In clear, aerated water the fish can be shyer in the middle of the day. Then it is better to fish shade and drop-off than to change colour every fifth cast.

When they bite

Morning and late afternoon are often best. The phone to the pond is listed as staffed on holidays — weekdays the permit can still work via Swish, but check the club’s page before you go. Season and ice are decided by the club, not by this page.

Getting there

The pond sits according to the club nine kilometres west of Sjöbo on road 11, near Vombsjön. The map pin is the named pond. A large car park next to it.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. Prices, quota and how Swish is labelled belong to the club and they change. Current prices are on the permit seller’s page. No fishing before the permit is bought.

The lake is marked as family-friendly with parking by the water, a barbecue hut, a playground and permits sold on site. That does not replace watching children at the pond edge.
