Rainbow or brown trout?
Both are salmonids stocked in put and take, but they are not the same fish and do not always show up in the same ponds. Rainbow is the spotted one. Brown trout is the brown one.
Rainbow trout
The most common PAT species in Sweden. Copes with ponds from Skåne to the north. Fished with spin, fly and bait when allowed. It is not a wild Swedish species in these waters — it is stocked to be caught. All published waters with rainbow trout.
Brown trout
Stocked in lake and stream. May share water with rainbow or stand alone. Methods and rules are set by the manager. List: brown trout.
Arctic char and others
Char wants colder water. In the north it is a given; in the south rarer. Arctic char. Salmon and brook trout are listed only when the source names them.
Pike and perch are not the main subject here, even if they live in the same lake. Choose what you want to fish. Filter the map or start from species. Methods: fly, spin or bait.
