Vitgöl

Vitgöl is a fly-fishing water for put and take at Kosta in Lessebo municipality. Kosta Lodge stocks rainbow trout and sells permits at the lodge, at Jaktia in Kosta or via Swish according to the fishing page. It is not a spin or bait-fishing water. Pack a fly rod, and read what is included in the permit you buy — the lodge has more waters in the same area.

Species

Here it is planted rainbow trout. The lodge describes the fishing as fly fishing in Vitgöl. Nearby there are other waters with other rules and species; this page is only the tarn’s salmonid fishing.

Rainbow trout in a forest tarn often sit along edges, drop-offs and in lee. When it is cold they can sit high. After a warm spell they can need a fly that gets down. Wade only where it is obviously shallow and firm — tarns can have a muddy bottom.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

The operator presents Vitgöl as fly fishing. Spin fishing and bait fishing are not in the filters for this water. Children’s fishing in ponds and fishing in Djupgöl are other products with the same seller; do not mix them up with Vitgöl.

A floating line and a nymph under the surface are a common start in a tarn. Intermediate or sinking line if the fish do not show. Wind shelters and barbecue sites at the lakes are mentioned by the lodge, but they do not replace a valid permit.

Lures and flies

For tarn rainbow trout, small nymphs, pupae and damselflies in olive, black and orange often work, plus a simple streamer if you see hunting. In stained water a clearer silhouette can be more right than an exact imitation. That is general fly tactics for the species, not a report from a single day at Vitgöl.

Bring extra leaders. Forest vegetation and a backcast into trees are more common problems than having the wrong pattern.

When they bite

Morning and late afternoon are often best, especially spring and autumn. The lodge describes seasonal variation in fish size, not a bite clock. Wind over a small tarn can make the presentation hard in the middle of the day. Check open and how the permit is bought before you go.

Vitgöl sits at Kosta in Lessebo municipality. The map pin is the named tarn’s middle. Follow signs toward the lodge and on toward the water; park where the seller directs.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. Prices, how many fish are included and what differs Vitgöl from Djupgöl and the children’s ponds belong to the lodge and they change. Current prices are on the permit seller’s page. Fly fishing in Vitgöl is not the same as family fishing in the ponds, even if the same seller runs both.
