Toftasjön

Toftasjön is Torvsjöns FVOF’s put-and-take lake east of Halmstad, along road 25. The association stocks rainbow trout according to how many permits are sold. The permit applies to Toftasjön, not the neighbouring lake Torvsjön two kilometres east. Buy it digitally before you cast.

Species

Rainbow trout is the main species. In the same lake there are pike and perch; they do not belong to the salmonid fishing, and the association asks that pike not be released. Other species you should not keep according to the seller’s information.

Rainbow trout in a forest lake of this size often move along edges and jetties. After a stocking they can sit tight. Later they spread and can need a longer cast or a fly that gets down.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Older association text describes fly fishing and spin fishing from the bank, one rod, and a ban on bait fishing with worm and similar. Bait fishing is not in the filter here. A float tube is mentioned as allowed with consideration for those fishing from the bank. Outboard motors are banned.

Toilet and barbecue sites are at the lake according to the association. In summer bathers can disturb the fishing — count on that, especially at jetties.

Lures and flies

Small spoons and spinners in silver, white or orange are a common start. On fly: a nymph along the edge, a streamer if you see hunting. That is general tactics for lake rainbow trout.

Leave powerbait and worm at home if the seller still bans baited hooks. Check the rules the day you fish.

When they bite

Morning and evening are often best. In the middle of hot days, especially with bathing pressure, it can be quieter. Stocking is decided by permit sales, not a public calendar here. Ice and winter fishing you read with the seller.

Getting there

The lake sits about ten kilometres east of Halmstad along road 25. Turn in at the Toftasjön sign. The map pin is the named lake. Do not confuse it with Torvsjön, which sits closer to Skedalaskog two kilometres east.

Park where the association directs. The permit sold digitally is marked for Toftasjön.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. Quota and what applies to float tubes belong to the association and they change. Children up to and including eleven fish according to the seller free in company with an adult who has a valid permit, on the adult’s terms.

The lake is marked as family-friendly with toilet, barbecue sites, a signed entrance and a clear child rule. It is still a lake with bathing and deeper parts — keep an eye out.
