Stortjärnen

Stortjärnen is put and take in Bräcke municipality, Jämtland. Ismundens FVOF sells a special P&T 24-hour permit for Stortjärn. Brown trout is the main species. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

Stocked salmonids are what you fish here: brown trout, Arctic char. This page is Stortjärnen in Bräcke, not Stortjärnen at Rätan/Övre Hoan.

Brown trout and Arctic char regularly according to the FVOF. Typical of this kind of water: the fish can sit close to the bank after stocking and then seek deeper water.

Lures and flies

For stocked brown trout, small spinners, spoons and simple nymphs in olive, black and orange often work. On fly a nymph or a simple streamer is enough as a start. The tips are general for the species and therefore not specific to Stortjärnen.

Change colour and depth if it is dead for a while. After a stocking the fish can take near the surface. Later they often want a slower presentation.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun in small forest waters. Spring and autumn are often named as pleasant periods on this type of water.

Check an open permit and ice with the seller before you go. An empty report online says nothing about today’s water.

Getting there

The map pin sits at Stortjärnen, Ismunden/Boggsjön. Park where it is marked. Fires only at prepared sites unless there is a fire ban.

Take your rubbish home. Keep your distance from homes and pasture. The map on this site is a pin, not a parking map.
