Hornsjön

Hornsjön is put and take in Ragunda municipality, at Stugun in Jämtland. Stuguns FVOF stocks rainbow trout and plans Arctic char. Its own day permit, not the area’s cheaper permit. Children up to 15 fish on an adult’s quota. See family-friendly waters. Not Hornsjön in Hudiksvall. We do not sell the permits.

Species

Stocked salmonids are what you fish here: rainbow trout, brown trout and Arctic char. This page is Hornsjön at Stugun, not Indalsälven in the same FVO and not Hornsjön in Hälsingland.

The association has stocked rainbow trout in June and announced Arctic char for autumn 2026. Stocking is seasonal. Typical of this kind of water: the fish can sit close to the bank after stocking.

In summer, bank fishing only. Boats are banned on the lake according to the seller. County: Jämtlands län.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Here: fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing as long as Hornsjön’s own permit does not say otherwise. The area’s day, week and yearly permits do not apply here.

Children up to 15 with an adult who has a valid permit, on the adult’s quota. Groundbaiting is banned according to the permit text.

Lures and flies

Small spinners, spoons and simple nymphs toward stocked rainbow trout. Arctic char later in the season is often taken deeper. General species tactics and therefore not specific to Hornsjön.

When they bite

Stocking and opening are decided by the FVO. The lake has been closed and opened again in June. Check the permit page the same day you go, not an old report.

Getting there

The map pin sits at Hornsjön in Ragunda municipality, at Stugun. Not Hornsjön in Hudiksvall and not Östersund town — it is Stugun, a bit to the east.

Park where it is marked. Take your rubbish home. The map is a pin, not a parking map.
