Stora Lövsjön

Stora Lövsjön is put and take in Hedemora municipality. Vikmanshyttans Sportfiskeklubb stocks rainbow trout, brown trout and Arctic char. You buy a special permit for this water — an area permit for surrounding lakes is not enough. Lilla Lövsjön is another water with the club, not this page. Not Lilla Lövsjön in Lerum.

Species

The main species is stocked rainbow trout. Rainbow trout is stocked during the season; brown trout and Arctic char also occur. It is the stocked salmonids you fish here, not pike in a natural water.

Rainbow trout in a bounded lake often sit close to the bank after stocking and then spread toward deeper stretches.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

The methods we filter on are fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing. Catch and release is not allowed according to the club. Boat motors are often banned on this type of water — follow the seller, not a forum.

Lures and flies

Small spoons and spinners in silver, white or orange are a common start where spin is allowed. On fly: nymph, pupa and a simple streamer. Scented baits can be banned — that is with the seller. The tips are general for fishing after stocked salmonids.

When they bite

Stocked salmonids are liveliest in cool water and just after a refill. Dawn and dusk often beat high sun. When the association last stocked you read with the permit seller.

Getting there

Forest lake at Turbo, west of Hedemora. Fishing from bank and jetties. Several jetties, some of them accessible, and a boardwalk around the lake. Camping in the car park is not allowed. The map pin points at the named water, not at the town. Park where it is marked.

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. Quota, season and what applies for children change. Bring the confirmation digitally or printed.
