Stora Grötevatten is put and take in Kungälv municipality, in Svartedalen nature reserve north of Göteborg. Sportfiskarna stocks rainbow trout in selected lakes. The folder lists Stora Grötevatten among the waters where salmonids are stocked. A shared Svartedalskort applies. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.
Species
Planted rainbow trout is the reason. Pike and perch occur naturally. Not Lilla Grötevatten if it exists nearby, and not Lindesjön next door.
Klarevatten and Övre Långevatten are on the same permit but the folder does not list rainbow trout there. Those pages are not published as P&T.
Rainbow trout is the P&T species here, stocked in selected lakes in the reserve. Pike and perch are not what you buy the salmonid permit for. Because only fly and spin are allowed you fish without bait fishing, from the bank. Rainbow trout take lure and fly and often sit along the edges after a stocking. In a nature reserve the reserve rules sit on top of the permit, so stay on the path.
Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing
Spin and fly according to the folder. Not the bait-fishing lake Översjön. One rod, one hook according to Sportfiskarna. Fly fishing is included. Other methods only if the folder allows them in Stora Grötevatten itself.
Children up to 16 fish free with an adult who has a permit, on that person’s quota.
Lures and flies
Nymph, streamer and small spinners are a common start against stocked rainbow trout. The tips are general and therefore not specific to Stora Grötevatten.
When they bite
Stocking is decided by Sportfiskarna. Casting hours are with the seller (summer and winter have different clock times). Check an open permit.
The folder is dated; rules may have changed. Read the current permit.
Stocked rainbow trout are liveliest in cool water and just after a refill, and usually bite best at dawn and dusk. Casting hours differ between summer and winter according to the seller, so check the clock times before you go.
Getting there
The map pin sits at Stora Grötevatten in Kungälv municipality. Park where it is marked, often Grandalen. Nature reserve — stay on the path.
Not Lilla Grötevatten, and not Lindesjön next door.
The Svartedalskort covers eight waters. Only lakes where the folder lists stocked rainbow trout get a P&T page. Grandalen is mentioned as an information board and QR. The nature reserve’s rules apply on top of the fishing permit.
Rules
Always check the current rules with the permit seller. Quota, hours and fly zones change. Current prices are on the permit seller’s page.
