Slöjtjärn

Slöjtjärn is put and take in Arvika municipality, in Sölje FVOF toward Glaskogen. The association stocks salmonids – rainbow trout, brown trout and Arctic char are mentioned for the salmonid fishing. Its own salmonid permit, not the natural-water permit. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

Planted salmonid is what is fished here. This page is Slöjtjärn, not Spjuttjärn on the same permit and not Mörttjärn (fly only according to the tourist page).

Typical of forest tarns: the fish can sit along the banks after stocking.

With rainbow trout, brown trout and Arctic char you fish three salmonids with different habits: rainbow trout boldest, brown trout and Arctic char more cautious and often deeper in heat. Because only fly and spin are allowed you fish without bait fishing. Arctic char often take small, discreet patterns near the bottom. Choose the salmonid permit, not the natural-water permit.

Here we filter on fly fishing and spin fishing. Mörttjärn in the same area is fly only according to Visit Värmland – that does not automatically apply to Slöjtjärn, but read the seller. One outfit per person according to the tourist page.

Stocking is mentioned in spring, summer and autumn. Dates belong to the association.

Lures and flies

Small spinners, spoons and nymphs are a common start toward planted salmonids. The tips are general and therefore not specific to Slöjtjärn.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager. Morning and evening are often nicer. Check an open permit with the seller.

Cool water and dawn or dusk usually give most, and in heat brown trout and Arctic char seek deeper. Stocking is mentioned in spring, summer and autumn, so fishing can be fine over a long season.

Getting there

The map pin sits at the named Slöjtjärn in Arvika municipality, in the woods toward Glaskogen. Not the nature reserve’s large lakes. Park where it is signed.

On the seller’s page: choose the salmonid permit, not the natural-water permit and not the Glaskogen permit, which does not open the salmonid fishing.
