Skogssjön

Skogssjön is put and take in Mjölby municipality. Mjölby FVF stocks rainbow trout several times a year, including autumn 2026. The same permit covers Svartån, but there the county board has stopped new stocking. We do not sell the permits.

Species

Rainbow trout is the main species. The association writes more stocking in Skogssjön after Svartån no longer gets rainbow trout. This page is Skogssjön in Mjölby, not Svartån and not other Skogssjön.

Crucian carp, pike and tench are also in the lake. They are not the reason for the P&T page.

Rainbow trout is the put-and-take species here, and since Svartån no longer gets new stocking the association writes that more rainbow trout is put in Skogssjön. That often means plenty of catchable fish in season. Crucian carp, pike and tench exist but are not what you buy the P&T permit for. Rainbow trout take lures, bait and fly, and wading is possible in places.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Here: fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing as long as the permit does not say otherwise. The association mentions fly fishing and that you can wade in places.

The permit is sold via iFiske marked Mjölby FVF. Buy it before you fish. Premiere after the spring closure you read with the seller.

Lures and flies

Small spinners and a nymph toward planted rainbow trout. General species tactics and therefore not specific to Skogssjön.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the association. They have announced autumn stocking 2026. Check an open permit the same week you go. Closed in spring until premiere.

Planted rainbow trout are liveliest in cool water and just after a refill, and usually bite best at dawn and dusk. Autumn stocking can give fine fishing into late autumn.

Getting there

The map pin sits at the named Skogssjön, Mjölby. Not Svartån through the centre and not other Skogssjön.

Park where it is signed. Boats are hired according to the association via Preem in Mjölby when the season allows. Take rubbish home. The map is a pin, not a parking map.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. Quota and closures change. Current prices are on the permit seller’s page. A permit for Mjölby FVF is not automatically free fishing between the bridges in the centre.
