Gulbäckesjön

Gulbäckesjön is put and take in Motala municipality. IF Metall’s fishing area stocks rainbow trout and brown trout. The permit is public — members pay less, others buy the same iFiske products at a higher price. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

Rainbow trout and brown trout are stocked during the season. Whitefish and pike can occur.

You fish two salmonids with different manners: rainbow trout bolder and shallower, brown trout more cautious and often deeper in heat. Whitefish and pike can occur but are not why you buy the salmonid permit. Brown trout rewards a discreet presentation and thinner tippet. Fixed gear is banned, and the quota is shared per permit.

Stocked fish can sit close to the bank after stocking and then deeper. That is typical of this kind of water.

Lures and flies

For stocked rainbow trout, small spinners, spoons and simple nymphs in olive, black and orange often work when the water is stained. Streamer when the fish are hunting. General species tactics, not a recipe unique to Gulbäckesjön.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun on small forest waters. Check an open permit, ice and the latest stocking with the seller before you go.

Cool water and a recent fill usually give the best takes; brown trout is more sensitive to heat, so early morning and evening beat summer heat while the fish otherwise seek depth.

Getting there

The map pin shows Gulbäckesjön, near the club’s area centre. Not Dalsjön and not Hovden. Park where it is marked, not on private plots. Fires only on prepared sites unless there is a fire ban.
