Igeltjärn

Igeltjärn is put and take in Hagfors municipality, in the same fishery as Östra Hinnsjön southwest of Ekshärad. Björklångens FVOF stocks brown trout. It is not Igeltjärn in Nordanstig and not the hire lake with the same name in Grangärde. Fishing is from bank and jetties. A special permit for this tarn — buy with the seller.

Species

The main species is stocked brown trout. The association sells day permits and family permits marked for Igeltjärn. Perch can be there, but it is the stocked salmonids you fish here.

Brown trout in a small tarn often sit within casting range from the bank after stocking. Walk quietly the last stretch toward the jetty.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Here: fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing from bank and jetty. Not boat on this water according to the association — boat and float tube belong to Östra Hinnsjön. Pack after the seller’s current tackle rules, not after a forum.

Lures and flies

Short casts toward the edge and the drop-off. Small spinners, spoons and a nymph in olive or black are a common start toward stocked brown trout. Streamer when the fish hunt at the surface. General species tactics, not a recipe unique to Igeltjärn.

When they bite

A small tarn warms fast. Early morning and late evening often beat midday in still sun. After stocking it can take tightly for a while. When the latest stocking was is with the permit seller.

Getting there

Southwest of Ekshärad, the same district as Östra Hinnsjön but its own tarn with jetties. The map pin points at the named water, not at Ekshärad centre and not at the other Igeltjärn closer to town. Park where it is marked. The jetties are for fishing, not for blocking the path.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. Quota, season and the child rule change. Take the confirmation digitally or printed.
