Östra Hinnsjön

Östra Hinnsjön is put and take in Hagfors municipality, southwest of Ekshärad. Björklångens FVOF stocks brown trout. It is the named lake, not Björklången next to it. Fishing from a boat and float tube is allowed here. You buy the permit with the seller before you cast.

Species

The main species is planted brown trout. The association counts the water as put and take. Perch and whitefish live in the same lake, but this page is the salmonid fishing that is stocked.

Brown trout in a forest lake often go along drop-offs and at inlets. After a stocking fish can sit shallow for a while.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Methods we filter on are fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing. Boat and float tube are mentioned by the association; electric motor only if you take a boat. Read current gear rules with the permit seller. Igeltjärn in the same area is another water — bank and jetty there, this lake is the more open surface.

Lures and flies

Small spoons and spinners in silver or dark copper are a common start toward planted brown trout. On fly: nymph, pupa and a simple streamer along the edge. Scented baits can be banned — that sits with the seller. The tips are general for this kind of fishing.

When they bite

Planted brown trout is often sharpest in cool water, dawn and dusk. High summer sun pushes them deeper. When the association last stocked you read with the permit seller.

Getting there

Southwest of Ekshärad in Hagfors municipality. The map pin points at the named lake, not at the town. Park where it is signed and leave room for others. Do not take Björklången or Igeltjärn as the same shore. The lake sits in forest; the last bit can be a forest road, do not drive into the ditch.
