Hovden

Hovden is put and take in Motala municipality. IF Metall’s fishing area stocks rainbow trout and brown trout. East of the town, separate from the Gulbäcke group. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

Stocked salmonids are what you fish here. This page is Hovden, not other waters in the same area that may have pike or perch as the main number.

You fish two salmonids with different manners: rainbow trout bolder and shallower, brown trout more cautious and often deeper in heat. Because the same day permit covers six lakes you can move between waters during the day if one water is slow.

Stocked fish can sit close to the bank after stocking and then deeper. Typical of this kind of water.

Lures and flies

For stocked rainbow trout, small spinners, spoons and simple nymphs in olive, black and orange often work when the water is stained. Streamer when the fish are hunting. General species tactics, not a recipe unique to Hovden.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun on small forest waters. Check an open permit, ice and the latest stocking with the seller before you go.

Cool water and a recent fill usually give the best takes; brown trout is more sensitive to heat, so early morning and evening beat summer heat while the fish otherwise seek depth.

Getting there

East of Motala according to the map pin. Not Svartgölarna further north. Park where it is marked, not on private plots. Fires only on prepared sites unless there is a fire ban.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. Quota, times, float tube and the child rule change. Current prices are on the permit seller’s page. Take the confirmation from the purchase, stick to the quota and kill quickly the fish you keep; the same day permit covers six lakes.
